Your driveway is the single biggest hard surface in front of your home, and it takes a beating in North Texas. Sun bakes it, sprinklers rust-stain it, tires drag red clay across it, and the oak canopy in older Dallas and Fort Worth neighborhoods keeps it damp enough to grow a green-black film. Left alone, all of that builds into a dull, blotchy slab that makes an otherwise sharp house look tired. Cleaning it is the fastest, most affordable curb-appeal upgrade you can buy — and it is where most of our new DFW customers start.

What driveway and concrete cleaning includes

When we clean your flatwork, we are not just spraying it down. A proper job removes the layered grime that a garden hose never touches:

  • Ground-in dirt and traffic film across the whole slab
  • Algae, mildew and that green-black film that thrives under tree cover and on the shaded north side of the house
  • Oil and transmission drips in the parking area and apron
  • Rust and orange sprinkler staining from iron-rich well water and hard municipal water
  • Red-clay tracking dragged in from flower beds, new construction and unsealed yards
  • Tire marks, scuffs and rubber transfer near the garage

The goal is a uniform, even finish — the concrete looks like one consistent surface again, not a patchwork of light and dark.

Why North Texas is hard on concrete

DFW throws a specific set of problems at your driveway, and they are why generic "power washing" often disappoints here.

  • Iron and hard water. Sprinkler heads and irrigation lines leave orange and brown rust fans across concrete all over Plano, Frisco, McKinney and Allen. Chlorine bleach and a pressure wand will not touch true rust — it needs the right acid-based treatment.
  • Red clay. Our soil stains. Once red-clay runoff dries into the pores of concrete, plain water just smears it. It takes the correct cleaner and dwell time to lift it.
  • Tree-canopy mildew. Mature oaks and elms in Richardson, Carrollton and older Fort Worth neighborhoods keep concrete shaded and humid, so mildew and algae come back fast when a driveway is only rinsed instead of properly cleaned.
  • Heat and pollen. Spring pollen cakes onto everything, and summer heat bakes oil and organic staining deeper into the slab.

Matching the method and the treatment to these specific stains is the difference between a driveway that looks clean for a season and one that just looks wet for an afternoon.

Our method: the surface-cleaner finish

Here is the part that actually matters for how your driveway looks.

Cheaper operators clean concrete with a pressure wand — a single high-pressure jet they wave back and forth by hand. On a big flat slab, that hand motion leaves stripes: overlapping arcs of clean and dirty concrete, sometimes called zebra striping or wand marks. Once they are in the surface, they are obvious, and they are hard to fix.

We clean flatwork with a rotary surface cleaner — a shrouded tool with jets on a spinning bar that holds a consistent distance and pressure across the whole slab. That gives you an even, no-stripe finish, edge to edge, with no wand arcs. We then detail edges, control joints, curbs and corners by hand so the clean line is crisp all the way to the grass.

Method matters, and we match it to the surface:

SurfaceMethodWhy
Concrete driveway, sidewalk, patioPressure washing with a surface cleanerEven, no-stripe finish on hard flatwork
Exposed aggregateControlled pressure washingCleans between the stones without blasting them loose
Brick and stone paversSurface cleaner at adjusted pressureLifts grime without cutting the joints
Oil, rust, red-clay stainsTargeted stain treatment, then washChemistry does what pressure alone cannot
Roof, siding, painted surfacesSoft washing (low pressure)High pressure would damage them — cleaning solution kills growth at the root

The short version: hard flatwork gets high pressure and a surface cleaner; delicate surfaces get soft washing. We never take a surface cleaner to your roof, and we never rely on pressure alone to fix a rust stain.

Surfaces and scope we handle

  • Driveways and garage aprons
  • Sidewalks, walkways and front steps
  • Public curbs and the strip between sidewalk and street
  • Back patios and pool decks
  • Exposed aggregate, brick and paver flatwork
  • Entryways, breezeways and mailbox pads

If it is concrete, stone or paver flatwork around your home, we clean it. Pair the driveway with a house wash or roof soft wash and the whole exterior reads clean at once — which is exactly what HOA curb-appeal rules in a lot of Frisco, Prosper and North Dallas communities are looking for.

What to expect from the process

We keep it simple and low-hassle:

  1. Free quote. We look at the square footage, the surface type and the stains, then give you an honest number up front.
  2. Prep. We move what needs moving, protect plantings, and pre-treat oil, rust and red-clay spots so the cleaner has time to work.
  3. Surface clean. We run the surface cleaner across the flatwork for that even finish, then hand-detail edges, joints and corners.
  4. Rinse and check. We rinse everything down, walk it with you, and make sure the result matches what we promised.

Most residential driveways are a one-visit, same-day job. You do not need to be home, though we are happy to have you there.

Pricing and what affects it

Driveway and concrete cleaning is one of the most affordable services we offer, and it delivers the most visible before-and-after for the money. Because every driveway, lot and stain situation is different, we do not post one-size-fits-all numbers — instead we give you a clear, firm price up front with a free, no-obligation on-site (or photo) quote, so there are no surprises.

What moves the price:

  • Total square footage — a small walkway is a very different job than an extended driveway with back patios and pool decks
  • Surface type — exposed aggregate and pavers take more care and time than smooth concrete
  • Stain load — heavy oil, deep rust and set-in red clay need extra treatment
  • Access and slope — long runs, gated areas and steep aprons add labor
  • Add-ons and scope — bundling in sidewalks, curbs, a front walkway or optional sealing changes the job
  • One-time versus recurring — a regular maintenance schedule is priced differently than a single deep clean

When we quote your property, we walk through exactly which of these apply to you and put a firm number in writing before any work starts. Every property is a little different, so a free on-site quote confirms your exact price with no surprises and no obligation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does driveway cleaning cost in DFW?

It depends on your property, because every driveway is different. Price is driven by total square footage, surface type, how heavy the staining is, access and slope, any add-ons like sidewalks, curbs or sealing, and whether it is a one-time or recurring clean. Rather than guess, we give you a clear, firm price up front with a free, no-obligation on-site or photo quote — so there are no surprises.

Will pressure washing leave stripes on my concrete?

Not the way we do it. We use a rotary surface cleaner that holds consistent pressure across the whole slab for an even, no-stripe finish, then hand-detail the edges and joints. Zebra striping comes from waving a single pressure wand by hand, which we do not rely on for flatwork.

Can you remove oil, rust and red-clay stains from concrete?

Most of the time, yes. Rust from sprinklers, oil drips and set-in red-clay tracking need targeted stain treatment, not just pressure, so we pre-treat those spots before washing. Very old or deeply penetrated stains may lighten rather than vanish completely, and we will tell you honestly what to expect when we quote it.

How often should I have my driveway cleaned?

For most DFW homes, once a year keeps concrete looking sharp. Driveways under heavy oak or elm canopy, or on a shaded north side, may want it every 6 to 9 months because mildew and algae come back faster in that damp shade.

What areas do you serve?

We clean driveways and concrete across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Richardson and Carrollton. If you are in the broader DFW area, reach out and we will let you know.

Do you clean exposed aggregate and pavers too?

Yes. Exposed aggregate, brick and paver flatwork get a surface cleaner at adjusted pressure so we lift the grime without knocking stones loose or cutting the joints. We match the pressure to the surface every time.
